Capoeira is an exciting and unique art form that combines martial arts, dance, music and eye-popping acrobatics.
Grupo Axé Capoeira began in Recife in 1982. Today, as Canada’s first academy of Capoeira, the Group continues to rise as one of the world’s leading Capoeira organizations. Axe Capoeira Toronto, led by Marcos Martins “Professor Paraiba” is recognized as the only 2x award winning academy in the GTA specializing in classes and performances. Since the opening of the Toronto branch, in 2000, Axé Capoeira Toronto has become one of the most recognized and respected Capoeira and Afro-Brazilian performance groups across Canada.
Axe Capoeira is renowned as a traveling performance group which promotes the Art of Capoeira, Afro Brazilian dances, percussion, art and the culture of Brazil in interactive and educational demonstrations. In short, our school is a community oriented group which promotes a healthy and active lifestyle through Capoeira classes, performances and workshops.
